Keeping You Up-To-Date With Information About Sage 100
Windows 7 End of Life
The time has come for Windows 7 to retire. Microsoft announced earlier this year that the operating system will reach its shelf life beginning on January 14, 2020, just a few months from now. Microsoft will continue to offer paid support until 2023 through Windows Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. Design and feature updates will no longer be provided. The costs double each year and are on a per-device basis, which are detailed in the table below:
Date | Enterprise | Professional |
Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | $25 | $50 |
Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | $50 | $100 |
Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | $100 | $200 |
It is important to note that those who continue to run Windows 7 without ESU leave their sensitive information and operating systems vulnerable to viruses and malware. External threats become far riskier, especially since hackers are aware of susceptibilities. These changes also bring updates to Sage Support. Sage will no longer support Sage 100 systems running on Windows 7, regardless if it is on a server or desktop. The options for upgrading are dependent on the version of your Sage 100 system.
The options companies using Sage 100 have depend on the version of the software and windows:
Sage 100 2015.3 or older | Sage 100 2015.4 or newer |
These versions are not certified for Windows 10, therefore both Windows and Sage systems would need to be upgraded | You are eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 without upgrading your current Sage software |
Sage released the 2019 version of Sage 100 earlier this year so customers who are ready to upgrade their software, those who are also running Windows 7 might want to consider also upgrading to Windows 10. Some of the new and exciting features in the 2019 version includes message enhancements, encrypted bank information, auto-complete for account numbers, and much more.
