Keeping You Up-To-Date With Information About Sage 100
From the Desk of the Sage 100 Consulting Manager, Lisa Margolies
Technology is constantly changing.
We used to have to keep up with the Joneses but for now we have to keep up with Microsoft (or should we say the Gates’).
Most of you are aware that Sage will only support the current version and 2 version prior; the current version is 2022 so Sage is currently only supporting 2020, 2021 and 2022.
You are probably asking yourself why is this important to know. Well if technology is changing and Sage only provides fixes to current / supported versions, that can put some of us in a bad spot. Net at Work will always do what we can to assist our clients but sometimes our hands are tied since we are not the publisher of the software.
There are 2 important updates approaching that will impact Sage 100 clients negatively if they are not on a recent product releases / versions.
- Effective October 1, 2022: Microsoft will disable Basic authentication and will require the use of modern authentication (Oath) for connection to servers, services and API connections such as Exchange on-line and Office365 email tenants. So I bet you’re wondering what that means; this means in-product e-mail services will stop working if customers are not on version Sage 100 2020 Product Update 1 or higher. OAuth (Open Authorization) is an open standard authorization protocol to grant access using token instead of sharing user-name and password which is considered more secure. Many of the major email providers are moving to require the use of OAuth for authenticating with their servers.
- Effective September 2023 TLS, Transport Layer Security, which is a 3rd-party component that is widely used and designed to facilitate privacy and data security when communicating over the internet will be affected since MicroSoft will stop supporting TLS 1.0 and 1.1. Now Sage is stating that end-users will need to be on version 2020 product update 1 or higher by the end of summer 2023.
Most issues you will encounter regarding the above 2 issues indicated above will hamper you from sending out e-mails from Sage 100 utilizing Paperless Office. If you have any questions regarding the above, please contact your account manager.
Again, the above will only affect versions 2020 and earlier; if you believe this is an issue and will need to upgrade, please fill out the upgrade request form on our website – http://www.netatwork.com/request-a-quote-sage-100-upgrade/
