Fixed Assets Unleashed – Q1 2021
Keeping You Up-To-Date With Information About Fixed Assets
Client Success Corner: Greater New Haven Transit Authority
So often organizations have requirements to inventory assets once a year. The process is often manual starting with printing a depreciation listing report for someone to ‘check’ off, only to have to go back into the software to update those assets with a Found Status. Sage Asset Tracking provides the tool for clients to move from a manual inventory process to a digital and more effective process. Many clients purchase the software but cannot seem to get the steps launched with confidence.
In 2018, as a SME of Fixed Assets we were contacted to provide help before this client decided to look for another solution. Greater New Haven Transport was given our name to provide a Project Assist Training that developed an inventory process to enable them to use Sage Asset Tracking with Mobile technology. At the time they purchased a reader that was not Android OS from Sage Directly. We brought an Android OS Unitech Scanner onsite to show the process using ONE DRIVE to update the Inventory Sessions wirelessly.
In July 2020 they decided to purchase our recommended scanner and join a live web Training session with us to see how they can do the Inventory. We conducted a screen share with instructional steps, great inventory tips and confirmed the ‘inventory session goals’ for Greater New Haven to swiftly conduct the tasks at hand. I received A huge thank you call expressing how much time this has saved the staff, with much less effort than prior years. The right equipment for an inventory works best with a proven process in place! Here is what they stated in an email I requested that may help other clients needing assistance:
“The inventory went well. The physical process of inventorying all the District’s assets is much faster with the scanner. With the scanner we can scan items as we come across them without having to flip through many printed pages to locate the corresponding data for that item. This is particularly helpful when items are not where expected. The data is updated in the scanner on the spot, eliminating the need to return to a computer to type in all those messy notes jotted down on those printed pages of asset data.”

Overall, Net at Work can provide a proven process in conjunction with the scanner so the benefit will save you significant time with the physical inventory process, keeps you more organized, and eliminates a lot of the stress associated with the manual-paper inventory process as well as the possibility for errors when typing in the notes from the physical inventory.
