Find, Engage, and Grow Your Talent Processes in a Post-Pandemic World
As companies begin ramping up their business, HR leaders are exploring the right ways to handle recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training. Understanding how the talent landscape has changed and what steps will be necessary to align with the post-pandemic era as efficiently and effectively as possible is vital.
This begins with assessing your recruiting, onboarding, and training processes to determine what gaps exist and what technology is needed to engineer your processes and define a strategy to adapt to this new landscape.
Recruiting
According to the recent SHRM article 2021 Recruiting Trends Shaped by the Pandemic, more companies will adopt recruiting technologies; shift talent attraction efforts to remote candidates; will emphasize internal hiring; and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. And the best recruiters will take the opportunity to add new skills, adapt as needed and show their value to the organization.

Onboarding
It will be important to decide if traditional or virtual onboarding will be right for your organization and how you welcome your new employees. There are several considerations. For instance, if your employees come to the office will you need a system that can help them stay safe and socially distanced while adding them to the team? If you onboard virtually, do you have a secure way to store your new employee paperwork? What if you decide to onboard in-person for local employees and virtual for remote? Do you have a plan and processes in place to accommodate?

Training
The pandemic has accelerated changes in how companies need to focus on training employees. Before the pandemic, a key area that continually challenged HR leaders was providing continuous workplace learning. One of the top reasons that employees leave their job is because they are not provided opportunities to learn new skills. If they don’t see a brighter future with you, they have fewer incentives to stay. And now they have more options to leave with a greater number of remote job prospects.
Infusing a Cohesive Talent Strategy
From finding top talent to training them, HR has their hands full. Poor recruitment strategies, inefficient onboarding processes, and challenges to talent development are just a few concerns for HR professionals. Understanding how these issues affect your company’s ability to perform is critical. Without the ability to recruit in a timely manner, you lose top talent. With inefficient onboarding processes, you lose valuable time. Without a talent development system, you lose employees to other companies.
How do you avoid these pitfalls? Getting the right talent is hard and developing them is another layer of challenges. But having the right systems in place can help you shift your time and focus back to the most important valuable resources of your company – your people.
