Keeping You Up-To-Date With Information About Sage 100
Notice for Sage 100 Clients Using Gmail
It has been brought to our attention that if you are using Gmail in conjunction with Sage Alerts & Workflow or Paperless Office, you must have OAuth configured as Google will be disabling Basic Authentication on September 30th, 2024. Please note that Gmail has sent out this notification previously to all of their users, but Net at Work wants all users to be aware.
OAuth is more secure access method. Users will no longer use a password to access (with the exception of app passwords; Google is turning off access to less secure apps – non-Google apps that can access Google Accounts with a username & password (basic authentication). Using basic authentication makes accounts more vulnerable to hijacking attempts.
To continue using Sage Alerts & Workflow or Paperless Office with Gmail, users must switch to a more secure type of access called OAuth. Oauth allows applications to access accounts with a digital key instead of requiring a user to enter their username and password.
Please note below if you do use Gmail for Sage Alerts or Paperless Office
For Sage 100 users, OAuth configuration is supported with the following versions:
- 2021.4
- 2022.2
- Any newer versions
Alternative Options:
- Utilize middleware like SendGrid
- Set up an SMTP relay of your own
If you use Gmail to send out Sage Intelligence reports, please contact your account manager as there is a hotfix that can be applied.
We realize that the end of the month is approaching, but wanted to make sure that everyone is aware and want to prevent any issues from occurring.
